Over the past
four years, I have worked extensively with many
laser technologies as both a clinician and an
educator. In my opinion, the TerraQuant is by far
one of the most advanced technologies available on
the market today. |
| The
unique combination of optimal power, wavelength and
frequency is ideal for biostimulation in injured
tissues. Not only does it help me to return my
athletes to play faster after an injury, it manages
my clinical patient’s pain in a way that is superior
to other modalities. Now more than ever, clinicians
need to explore the benefits of light therapy and
realize the difference phototherapy can make in
their outcomes.

Age 84—this patient had sustained
a fractured coccyx several years before and remained
very sore.
She could not sit straight and not for long.
Traveling by car was limited to a few kilometers
because of the pain. Analgesics NSAID and
acupuncture had had no effects. |
|
The
treatment consisted of 12 sessions of TerraQuant (15
minutes at 5Hz) over a four weeks period. After six
treatments, this patient was able to sit straight,
albeit with bearable discomfort. After 12
treatments, she was pain free and could walk and
travel by car without restriction.

TerraQuant is safe, effective, non-invasive. Accepted
world-wide by healthcare professionals! |
|
TerraQuant is a very worthwhile machine.
It promotes healing of wounds, tissue regeneration; it
reduces the risk for cross infection and contamination
between residents. It is not invasive. It does not generate
pain when used. It reduces the cost of dressings. It has
been well accepted by the staff. It is easily teachable. It
follows the KISS (Keep It Simple Stupid) principle. Often,
you will hear one staff member go through the corridors
asking, "who has kept the TerraQuant Laser machine for
themselves?" |

Physiotherapy. |
|
I have found the TerraQuant Laser simple
and easy to use. It has been very effective in the treatment
of shoulder and elbow problems specifically in tennis elbow.
It has also helped to resolve some stubborn sprained ankles.
The TerraQuant is also a helpful adjunct for scar management
especially in the hand. The TerraQuant laser system has
proved a useful tool in our physiotherapy Practice. |

Arthritis
pain in knee joints and hands. |
|
I have been suffering from severe chronic
pain in my knee joints which made bending my knees and going
up and down the stairs excruciatingly painful. After ten
days of daily TerraQuant treatment, using programs 1 and 2,
20 minutes each day on each knee, I feel a noticeable
improvement. The pain has not disappeared, but I can now
bend my knees and can walk up and down the stairs with
greater ease. I also have arthritis in my hands, and as a
hairdresser who shampoos women's hair every day, each time I
wet my hands, I feel strong pain. After using TerraQuant on
my hands for fifteen consecutive days, I can feel a
noticeable reduction in pain. I continue to use TerraQuant
every day or every other day both on my knees and on the
arthritis in my hands. I thank my daughter every day for
buying me TerraQuant as a present. |

Ligament
injuries. |
|
The TerraQuant has been a God-sent for
both me and my athletes. Maybe because of age or lack of
care, but a knee ligament injury became chronic. After 2
days and 6 sessions on the TerraQuant the scare tissue was
reduced 50% and the pain by 90%. Also, five young athletes
have recovered from various twists, bruises, and growing
pains after 1 to 3 days on the TerraQuant. Additionally, a
parent is finally feeling relief from spinal fusion surgery
using the TeraQuant for half a cycle. The TerraQuant is
becoming as important to us as our post-training water
workouts. |

Wrist and burn.
|
|
I plug the machine in and find that it is actually a model
of simplicity to operate. You choose one of five preset
programs—each with different pulse frequencies—press the
start button and apply the emitter (looks like a shower
head) over the affected area. I used the programme for wrist
pain, and I was pleased to detect a moderate increase in
mobility and a reduction in pain. I also tried the programme
to treat a small burn, and noticed that it quickly changed
from an angry crimson to a faint blush. I'd definitely give
it a qualified thumbs up. |

Lower back pain, whiplash, shoulder pain.
|
|
Different people can react in different ways, but overall we
have been most impressed with the results of all the tests
and trials we have run.
Many professionals such as physiotherapists are already
using this technology as an alternative to ultrasound. We
tried it out on three people with different conditions. Here
are their comments:
Jack, aged 50, lower back ache. I was willing to give
anything a go as I have had backache on and off for 20
years. You feel like such a little machine can't actually do
any good, but after two weeks using it for just 10 minutes a
day I started to look forward to my sessions. It was warming
and I felt more flexible afterwards. I would like to try it
out for longer.
John, aged 46, whiplash. I was on the receiving end of a
nasty tackle during a "friendly" Sunday morning rugby
tackle. By the evening my neck was really aching and I was
dreading what I would be like the next day. I applied the
TerraQuant to one specific muscle which felt really stiff
for ten minutes. The next morning I could barely feel
anything. I am sure it helped warm and relax the muscle. It
was almost like it helped release it from a spasm.
Steve aged 22, shoulder pain. I wrenched my shoulder at work
while digging and shoveling wet earth. I am a fit guy and
quite muscular, but I must have twisted myself while digging
and it really hurt. I combined using the TerraQuant with
applying icepacks. I used it twice a day for a week and the
pain went away. |

Fractures. |
|
25-year-old male who sustained a mid-shaft fracture of the
humerus on 20th July in Darwin while pitching a baseball. He
was treated conservatively in Darwin. After 6 weeks he came
to Melbourne and complained of pain around the upper arm and
in the cubital fossa area. After investigating him for
osteoporosis (neg.) he was started on low-level laser
therapy and given exercises to increase strength around the
elbow and shoulder. He showed good recovery after 14 days'
treatment as regards, pain but returned 1 week later,
requesting further treatment from which he derived
significant improvement. |

Bursitis. |
|
73-year-old female with a painful left shoulder. Ultrasound
of shoulder demonstrated bursitis and fluid around the
biceps tendon. Pain worse at night. Limited range of
movement. TerraQuant treatment was commenced daily for 6
days, with notable improvement in level of pain. She was
virtually pain-free during the day, with diminishing night
pain and increasing range of movement of the shoulder joint. |

Hip bursitis.
|
|
Age 72: This retired woman was suffering from left hip pain
that reduced her ability to go for long walks and also
prevented her from sleeping on her left side. Getting up
from a chair or her sofa was painful. Palpation of the great
trochanter was painful, and a left hip ultrasound confirmed
bursitis. The treatment consisted of eight treatments of
TerraQuant (5 minutes variable frequency and 5 minutes at 50
Hz) over a three-week period. At the end of the treatment,
the patient was pain-free and could enjoy her walks again.
There was no pain at palpation and no limited range of
movement of her left hip. |

Shoulder bursitis. |
|
Age 28: The injury occurred at work; while digging and
shoveling heavy wet earthy clay, the shovel got stuck under
a rock, and the patient exerted undue force to try to lift
the rock, which did not move an inch. The patient is very
muscular and exercises regularly (weight-lifting). The
biceps tendon was painful and there was limited abduction at
60 degrees and very limited internal rotation and forward
flexion. An ultrasound showed biceps tendon inflammation and
partial tear. The treatment consisted of 4 sessions of
TerraQuant (10 minutes @ 50Hz) with a prescription for NSAID
and ice packs. He was assigned to light duties with a
restriction on lifting no more than two kilos. The four
sessions of TerraQuant were given over a 10-day period. At
the end of the treatment, the patient was pain-free and
there was no limitation of movement, and palpation was
pain-free. |

|
1. Age 34: The acute injury occurred while playing
basketball, which he played only occasionally. The Achilles
tendon was swollen and acutely painful at palpation. The
patient was walking with moderate pain. Treatment consisted
of three 10-minute sessions of TerraQuant (10 minutes @
50Hz) for one week, combined with Non Steroidal
Anti-Inflammatory Drugs (NSAID). At the end of the
treatment, the patient was able to walk freely; the Achilles
tendon was not painful at palpation. |

2. Age 78: This patient had bilateral Achilles tendonitis
and bilateral plantar fasciitis for several weeks, with
increasing intensity. The pain had not been relieved with
paracetamol. The injuries markedly annoyed this patient
since he was responsible for the maintenance of his local
bowling club and was an ardent player. Treatment consisted
of 6 sessions of TerraQuant, combined with NSAID. Each
TerraQuant session consisted of 10 minutes at 50Hz for each
of the Achilles tendons and each of the plantar fasciitis.
The TerraQuant sessions were distributed over a two-week
period. At the end of the treatment period, this gentleman
was pain-free, and fully enjoyed his bowling again. |

she was using an exercise bicycle during her rehabilitation,
and developed muscle strain of the upper anterior
compartment muscles. Also post-operatively, she developed a
pressure ulcer on her other heel. Her anterior compartment
strain improved daily with 5 treatments, and the moderately
deep pressure ulcer which had been closing slowly showed
rapid improvement from 1.5cms to 2mm in 7 days and was

Soft tissue injuries & musculoskeletal inflammation.
|
|
Pain management needs addressing from several ways - often
more than tablets is required. I have used the TerraQuant
device to successfully treat soft tissue injuries and other
musculo-skeletal inflammatory disorders e.g. tennis elbow.
It combines the power of three modalities to treat the
conditions and yet at the same time its use remains easy
enough for patients to use with excellent instructions. The
TerraQuant is ideal unit to use in a General Practice
setting, training requirements being kept to a minimum and
yet the unit appears very safe to use. |
